  • Media Types

The weight or density of the fiberglass media (in grams) affects efficiency, performance, and price. While 15-gram media is the most prevalent and economical choice, the denser 18 and 22-gram versions provide improved efficiency and can hold more paint.

  • Configuration

Flat filters mounted on simple wire filter grids are common.

  • Application Stages

Single-stage exhaust filtration is the most common setup.Typically, a less costly pre-filter (often in roll form) is used to extend the lifespan of the primary filter. When required, post-filters, frequently HEPA-rated, provide an additional layer of filtration.

Why is it necessary to purchase overspray exhaust filters for your paint booth?

  • Particles as small as 10 microns can ruin a paint job, creating visible defects on surfaces. It is the job of intake filters to eliminate these foreign particles, helping to ensure a contaminant-free environment for even the most demanding paint applications.

What are the different configurations of overspray exhaust filters?

  • Pad Filters: Cut-to-size without internal support for economical and effective performance.
  • Roll Filters: Same as pad filters, but with additional cost savings versus buying cut-to-size.
  • With Holding Grids: This creates a stable support for paint arrestors. (Rubber tips keep the grid firmly in the frame, while hook ends secure the paint blocker to the grid.)Designed for crossdraft paint booths and Air Make-up units, these can be linked together to increase efficiency.

Which paint booth types are suitable for overspray exhaust filters?

  • Crossdraft Paint Booths: Used for industrial painting needs, these booths typically use polyester intake filters with MERV 6–8 ratings to remove particulates effectively. These filters are easy to install without clips or mounting hardware, creating a secure fit for optimal air flow.
  • Downdraft Paint Booths: Common in automotive and other fine finish applications, these commonly utilize intake diffusion pads with a minimum MERV 10 rating, removing over 99+% of particles 7-10 microns or larger, while ensuring even air distribution for consistent coating applications.
  • Make-Up Air units.  Many booths are designed with these, helping to ensure balance of air inside and outside the booth. The filters used in these provide the first line of defense against contaminants and also help extend the life of the more expensive filters downstream.
