Why Should I Change My Air Filters?

Air filters should be replaced regularly to help maintain healthy indoor air quality and ensure that your HVAC system continues to operate properly. When your air filter is not changed regularly, it can become dirty and clogged, thus limiting airflow. When airflow is restricted, your HVAC must be kept on longer and overworked to cool or heat your home or office, which can lead to expensive maintenance repairs.

How often should I change air filter

Regular filter changes can help reduce pollutants in the air and lower energy bills (as estimated by a 1-inch standard pleated filter).

  • Lower traffic homes/apartments (single occupant/no pets): every 3-4 months
  • Moderate traffic homes (no pets): every 90 days
  • Moderate traffic homes with pets: every 60 days
  • Densely populated households with more than 2 pets/occupants with allergies: once every 30 days

What Is A MERV Rating(Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value)?

MERV Rating is the primary rating system used in the industry, both domestically and internationally. Established by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers, MERV rates a filter’s ability to capture and hold particles and pollutants.

MERV represents the minimum efficiency reported value. Air filters are measured by a MERV rating, and the higher the rating, the more pollutants the filter is able to capture.

What Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value Or MERV Rating Is Right For My Home?

Most air filters have a MERV rating from 1-16. The higher the MERV rating, the better the filter is at capturing pollutants and contaminants in the air.

How Do Electrostatic Filters Work?

As air passes through the electrostatic fibers, friction creates static charges that attract and retain dust, pollen, dust mites, and dander until it is rinsed.

How Often Does An Electrostatic Need To Be Cleaned?

We recommend cleaning the electrostatic filter every 30 days, even if it doesn't look dirty. Installing a clean electrostatic filter in your air conditioner will keep the filter in top condition at all times so that it captures as many air pollutants as possible.

How To Clean An Electrostatic Filter?

We recommend vacuuming up excess dirt, then running the filter under hot water, and then allowing the filter to dry completely before reuse. If desired, use a mild detergent. However, don’t use oils, adhesives, household cleaners, industrial cleaners, or alkali solutions, as this can damage the filter.

Does The Electrostatic Filter Benefit The Environment?

Yes, because the filter is reusable, you don't create any waste by throwing away a dirty filter every time you change it.

What Modifications Are Needed To Install An Electrostatic Filter?

NONE! Lifetime electrostatic filters easily replace your current disposable or pleated filters with no tools or modifications required.

What’s The Difference Between An AC Filter And A Furnace Filter?

Knowing what type of filter you need in your home can be confusing. But guess what? Ac filters are the same as furnace filters - they just have two different names! In most homes, the heating and cooling systems share the same air processor, which means they also share the same filter.
